The unique shape, material and construction of the trap bunker, allows it to be used in most environments. Whether under or alongside stone walls on moorland, under hedgerows on farmland or placed around domestic, industrial or agricultural buildings, the trap bunker will provide a long lasting and discrete trapping location.
The Trap Bunker measures 45cm in length, 30cm in width and 19 cm in height. It has a 75mm diameter tunnel that guides the target animal safely away from the entrance and into the central chamber that neatly houses the PERDIX Spring Trap.
The slightly recessed floor has be designed to position the trap’s treadle plate at the same height as the tunnel floor.
When a bunker is not housing a trap, the sunken chamber floor can be covered with a natural tracking material (e.g. damp sand) to record the footprints from any visiting animals. These can then be used to help identify the species using the Trap Bunker prior to setting a PERDIX Spring Trap.
The trap bunker was designed, developed and field-trialled by Will Pratt, an experienced wildlife management and conservation professional based in the Cotswolds, UK. The trap bunker is already proving to be a very effective method for the targeted control of predators and pest species.
