PERDIX Spring Trap Update. November 2020
First images of the PERDIX Spring Trap
We have now completed the final design of the Perdix Spring Trap and are now pleased to provide images of the design that will be offered for sale. In addition to these images we will also be providing videos and other materials via our website Perdix Wildlife Supplies in the coming weeks.
Finish and materials
The body and trigger mechanism of the PERDIX Spring Trap will be available in either a unique black/grey passivate finish or a drab olive passivate finish. Both provide increased corrosion resistance compared to standard zinc plating as used on other traps and can also be powder coated (provided on request) or painted (we recommend Krylon Fusion Camouflage Spray Paint for durability and finish) if required. The kill bar is finished in a yellow passivate so that the user can quickly see if it has been activated from a distance. The trigger arm (aka dog) and the contact point are both made of high grade 316 stainless steel to ensure smooth and consistent trap-aviation. All springs on the trap are made of high-quality carbon spring. To further ensure the longevity of your PERDIX Spring Trap, any component can be easily replaced if it ever becomes damaged in the field.
All components used on the PERDIX Spring Trap will be manufactured in the West Midlands, UK by our trusted suppliers. To further ensure high manufacturing standards and quality control, the final assembly of the trap will be completed by PERDIX in our new facility near Stratford-upon-Avon.
Pricing and distribution
Price, along with usability, durability and safety, has been constantly considered during the research and development of the PERDIX Spring Trap. In addition to using quality material and finishes, all parts can be replaced to keep on going costs to a minimum. We are confident that the PERDIX Spring Trap offers fantastic value for money. The PERDIX Spring Trap list price will be £32.95 ex VAT. Substantial discounts will be available for larger orders.
Due to considerable demand, the PERDIX Spring Trap will only be available directly through our retail division, Perdix Wildlife Supplies, until further notice.

Spring Traps Approval Order
We have now heard from Defra and NatureScot in England and Scotland respectively, and have been informed that the new STAO’s are planned for January. At this time, we cannot confirm when a new STAO’s will be published in Wales and Northern Ireland. Once these new STAO’s come into force the Perdix Spring Trap will be legal for trapping stoats, weasels, rats and grey squirrels. New General Licences for trapping stoats, GL38 and GL39 in England and GL14/2020 in Scotland, will also need to be published and list the PERDIX Spring Trap on them. These are also due for publication in January to replace the current GL’s that expire on the 31st December 2020.
Thank you for your support
Once again, thank you for your interest in our products. Without your custom we would be unable to spend considerable amounts of time and money on the research and development of new products to meet the demands on game and wildlife management during the 21st century. We are proud to be the leader in this field.
PERDIX Spring Trap Update. July 2020
Firstly, thank you for your interest in our new spring trap, the PERDIX Spring Trap. As I am sure you are already aware, it has now passed humaneness-testing for stoats under the international Agreement on Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS) and for rats, weasels and grey squirrels under the UK’s Spring Traps Approval Order (STAO). Thanks also for your patience. While it has been a long road of research, development, testing and legal approval, we hope that the final result will meet the needs of gamekeepers, pest controllers and other wildlife managers for many years to come.
Despite the difficult times caused by Coronavirus over the last few months, we have managed to remain open and have continued to work towards bringing the PERDIX Spring Trap to market in the last quarter of 2020. As a result, we now only have a few things left to complete prior to beginning production in earnest. We are also keeping in regular contact with government officials in England and Scotland who are currently working on a new Spring Trap Approval Orders (STAO’s) for each country. We will update you on the progress and the expected publication dates as soon as we know more.
In the meantime, to help users prepare for the launch of the PERDIX Spring Trap spring trap later this year, we are now making available the outer casing of the trap. This can be used to determine the suitability of your current trapping-tunnels or for the construction of new tunnels.
