The DoC 150 is an innovative humane kill spring trap developed by the Department of Conservation in New Zealand. They were developed to assist conservationists with the protection of native species from introduced predators. These traps pass National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (NAWAC) guidelines in New Zealand (using internationally recognised criteria) for effective kill trap performance. In the UK, the DoC 150 must be set within a tunnel constructed to the design specified by the Department of Conservation and are approved for use in trapping grey squirrels, rats, stoats and weasels.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

In the UK, as of January 1st 2019, DoC 150 traps can be set in a run-through tunnel configuration for trapping rats, stoats and weasels but NOT Grey squirrels. The use of baffles and their configuration have also changed. Please download the following for a full explanation of the tunnel and setting requirements for both closed-end (AKA blind-end) and run-though configurations: UK DOC Trap 150 and 200 instructions.

PERDIX currently offers DoC 150 traps in closed-end tunnels that conform to both old and new setting requirements.  Now that the design specifications for run-through tunnels have been published we will soon be making these available as well.

Conditions of use:  When using the trap in UK, "Where used in a closed-end trap configuration, the trap may be used only for the purpose of killing grey squirrels, rats, stoats and weasels. The trap must be set in an artificial tunnel constructed to the design specified by the Department of Conservation, using materials suitable for the purpose. Where used in a run-through trap configuration, the trap may be used only for the purpose of killing rats, stoats and weasels. The trap must be set in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions for the run-through configuration in a natural or artificial tunnel which is, in either case, suitable for the purpose".
