The PERDIX Automatic Farmland Bird Feeder allows supplemental feed to be provided up to four times daily via a timed feed spinner. The spinner can be programmed via the digital display to run for up to 20 seconds depending on the demand of food by birds. For instance, during cold weather, food requirements by farmland birds will be higher and therefore the spinner could be set to run for longer to provide additional food. Another advantage of using an automatic feeder is that it can aid in reducing problems caused by rats and other unwanted visitors at night. By setting the timer to dispense just enough food for birds during the day, little will be available for other visitors during the night.
The farmland bird feeder can either be hung from a suitable structure using the strong metal handle or mounted on a post using our Automatic Farmland Bird Feeder Post Mount. Ideally, the feeder should be at a height where rats (can jump vertically over 1m), badgers and deer cannot reach the spinner.
The spinner is easily attached to the feeder using 3 x M6 bolts (included) and powered using 4 x AA batteries (not included). Automatic spinner units can be purchased separately if you wish to fix them to your own buckets, tubs and other suitable containers.

Spread rates:
Our tests have found that when feeding wheat, approximately 125g is spread when the automatic feeder is set to a one second spin. A further 75g is spread ever second after this. Therefore, when set to a four second spin, 350g of wheat is spread. 100g grams of wheat equals 2000 - 2500 grains. We have also tested the spread rate when feeding a standard farmland bird supplemental mix and found it to be very similar to those for wheat.
Spread area:
When feeding wheat and set at a height of 1m above the ground, the PERDIX Automatic Feeder will distribute grains up to a radius of 2 m (6.5ft).
